2008 Student Research Conference

The VSGC conducts the annual Student Research Conference where all Graduate Research Fellows and Undergraduate Research Scholars present the results of their research funded by the VSGC. The Conference is attended by many advisors, faculty, administrators, and NASA and business and industry representatives.

Graduate Research Fellows present 15-minute oral presentations and Undergraduate Research Scholars present poster presentations during two 30-minute sessions. Attendance at the Conference is a requirement of all research scholarships and fellowships sponsored by VSGC.

The 2008 VSGC Student Research Conference will be held on April 21, 2008 on the main campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. The annual VSGC Luncheon to honor the current 2007-08 scholars and fellows will be hosted by Old Dominion University and held during the Student Research Conference.

The conference and luncheon will be held in the Webb University Center. Free registration begins at 8 a.m. and presentations will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Directions to Old Dominion Webb University Center:
Take I-64 East to Norfolk. After passing through the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel travel approximately 6 miles to Exit 276, Terminal Blvd/ODU/Naval Base 564. Bear right onto I-564.  Stay in the right lane and exit onto Terminal Blvd. for 2.0 miles. Turn left onto Hampton Blvd. for 2.4 miles.  Turn right onto 49th Street. The Webb University Center is the 4th building on the left. There is parking available in front of the building.

At the 2007 VSGC Student ResearchConference, thirty-four Graduate Fellows and ten Undergraduate Scholars presented their research. During the Conference, the third annual VSGC Luncheon was hosted by The College of William and Mary and held in honor of the current Scholars and Fellows and all VSGC scholarship and fellowship alumni. Several alumni attended the event and two alums gave a presentation about their current career and how their former VSGC award impacted their educational and career paths.
